YOUNG BOLTS INTO THE TOP 5 IN DUBAI

Melbourne racing driver, Dylan Young continued his run of form to finish inside the top 5 in Round 2 of the 2016/2017 MRF Challenge held at the Dubai Autodrome from December 8-10.

Young, who is a team mate to Michael Schumacher's son Mick, has scored points in each of the 8 races so far this season. Starting on pole position for Race 4 of the Dubai round, Dylan was looking to finish on the podium given he is known for his renowned quick starts off the line. However, the driver in 2nd place on the grid jump started and boxed Dylan in at the first turn leading to a messy first lap that dropped Young back to 5th place, where he would ultimately finish at the chequered flag. Young also finished in 6th (Race 3), 10th (Race 2) and 8th (Race 1) during the weekend along with his 5th place finish in the last race out of a highly competitive field of 16 drivers. The 2016/2017 MRF Challenge grid features drivers such as Mick Schumacher, Harrison Newey (son of Adrian Newey OBE, Chief Technical Officer, Red Bull Racing Formula One team) and Manuel Maldonado (cousin of former-F1 driver Pastor Maldonado).

"I'm really pleased with the progress we made following on from Round 1," said Young.

"I was really confident going into the last race starting from pole position. I had a clear strategy to maximise the start and so naturally I'm disappointed to have missed out on a podium given how the first lap unfolded, with the guy in 2nd place jumping the start. However, I'm really pumped going into the remaining 8 races and I think given the constant improvement we can be fighting at the pointy end for some strong results. It's a really competitive field and we are ahead of a lot of strong names so it's a great way to go into the Christmas break before the January races!"

The MRF Challenge travels to Delhi (27-29 January 2017) and concludes in Chennai (17-19 February 2017).
